Acrylic painting on prepared paper of my favourite beach hut at Mudeford Sandbank Spit. This original, unspoiled hut is at the top of several steps created from old railway sleepers and has wonderful wooden railings. I've made several paintings of this scene and all have sold.
I haven't visited the spit for a while and it'd be nice to think that, with all the changes that have taken place there recently, it is still retaining its old character and charm. With a beach hut recently going on the market for offers around £350,000, the place is changing beyond recognition in nature with wifi installed and only the very wealthy now able to buy huts there. Many huts now resemble posh hotel rooms. A complete reversal of its original function when the spit was created to allow a cheap holiday option for local people, and was a haven of peace and simplicity. How ironic...How sad...
